Mesh Wide Area Network - AP 7181

The AP 7181 is a high-performance, multi-radio 802.11n access point featuring superb network capacity, a maximum data rate of 300 Mbps and Motorola's unique intelligent ADEPT (ADvanced Element Panel Technology) antenna system. With the exclusive, ADEPT (ADvanced Element Panel Technology) antenna system, the AP 7181 achieves maximum data rates of up to 300 Mbps by delivering a reliable dual data stream in an outdoor environment. Leveraging multiple transmit and receive RF chains and dual polarized antennas, the AP 7181 achieves superior mesh throughput throughout a coverage area.

    AP 7181 Features and Benefits
  • Superior Antenna Technology - Motorola's intelligent ADEPT (ADvanced Element Panel Technology) antenna system was developed specifically for the AP 7181. The fully integrated ADEPT antenna system in the AP 7181 eliminates the self-shadowing interference and coverage challenges inherent to stick antenna designs.
  • High Capacity - The AP 7181 features 2.4 GHz and 5.x GHz radios that support a 3X3 MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) scheme, reaching a maximum data rate of 300 Mbps. The additional capacity delivers improvements at both the client and backhaul levels. The MIMO technology is combined with high performance radios designed by Motorola to maintain high power transmissions at some of the highest data rates. This results in new capabilities to clients in a mesh network, including improved data uplink, as well as enhancing the ability to send and receive data. These radios, coupled with the ability to use 40 MHz channel widths, allows the added capacity of the AP 7181 to be leveraged for advanced applications.
  • Excellent Mesh Routing - The AP 7181 offers robust data connections throughout the network by leveraging Motorola's leading routing technology, MeshConnex™. MeshConnex provides efficient routing, low latency, low routing overhead, high-speed handoffs and proven scalability. The Opportunistic Radio Link Adaptation (ORLA) is a key decision-making element within MeshConnex, designed to select data rates that will provide the best throughput at any given time
  • Mesh Wide Area Network Management and Deployment - The AP 7181 has been designed to provide added flexibility in both mounting location and software configuration to help minimize deployment and installation costs, maximize ROI and provide for a lower total cost of ownership (TCO). The unit's deployment process offers a clear work flow and organized menu options for configuration. Coupled with network wide management through One Point Wireless Manager, one application can be used to monitor and maintain AP 7181 configuration consistency throughout a deployed network, and further assist with post deployment optimization via templates and discovery of installed nodes.

  • Quality of Service - The VMM 4300 supports IEEE 802.11e based traffic prioritization, which enables flawless execution of voice and video applications. It constantly monitors congestion and automatically tunes its QoS parameters to optimize route selections to support such latency sensitive applications.

Intelligent Access Point - IAP 4300

The intelligent access point acts as a bridge between the wired world and the wireless mesh network.

The IAP 4300 is available either in a single radio configuration with a 2.4 GHz WiFi radio (802.11 b/g) or in a two radio configuration with an additional 5.8, 5.4 or 4.9 GHz (802.11a) radio. In a single radio configuration, the 2.4 GHz radio is used for both client access and node-to-node mesh links. In the two radio configuration, the 5.8 or 5.4 GHz radio is dedicated for node-to-node mesh traffic, while the 4.9 GHz radio is used for client access. Additionally, the 5.8 or 5.4 GHz radio can be configured to provide client access using the 802.11a standard.

    IAP 4300 Features and Benefits
  • Flexible & Adaptable Gateways - Every 4300 series node is capable of being an intelligent access point (IAP) or mesh wireless router (MWR), reducing the cost of storing excess inventory and simplifying deployment.
  • Proven Mesh Routing - The IAP 4300 leverages MeshConnex™ routing technology, using real-time congestion management and link control to automatically select the best data route on a per-request basis. This dramatically reduces hop latency, to better deliver real-time voice and multimedia services. Today, MeshConnex powers large-scale Motorola mesh wide area networks of more than 1,000 nodes.
  • Carrier-Class Security - The IAP 4300 supports complete, end-to-end security. It provides WEP, WPA and WPA2 encryption on client access. Motorola's own Secure Mesh ensures the highest data security within the meshed WiFi network.
  • Compact Form Factor - The smallest, lightest dual radio access point in its class is aesthetically appealing, resulting in increased mounting location flexibility and community acceptance.
  • Software Highlights- The 4300 series solution offers a multitude of software features for enhancing your network experience. With Peer to Peer Communication Blocking, Internet Service Providers (ISPs) now have an effective way to manage billing applications and client tracking scenarios. With the combination of the IAP 4300's VLAN support and standard 802.11e QoS, ISPs can create differentiated services that will allow them to offer tiered packages.

Mesh Wireless Video Camera

Motorola's mesh and Wi-Fi enabled wireless security camera video system is a robust, low-cost, easy-to-deploy, wireless solution for fixed and mobile video. Integrating Motorola's Mobility Enabled Access (MEA) technology or Wi-Fi directly into Sony's IPELA® camera has created a solution that is smaller and more cost-effective than conventional wireless video systems. Utilizing either licensed 4.9 GHz or unlicensed 2.4 GHz frequencies, the Mesh Wireless Video Camera system can be part of a larger Mesh Wide Area Network (MWAN), or act as a standalone video solution.

    Mesh Wireless Video Camera
  • Self-forming wireless video network - Motorola's intelligent MEA technology turns mesh camera nodes and clients into router/repeaters that form a seamless, wireless network automatically.
  • Multi-hopping feature - Video and other broadband data can "hop" through every device in a network, even to and from vehicles traveling at highway speeds.
  • Support for 4.9 GHz MEA, 2.4 GHz MEA and 802.11 b/g operation - A mesh camera network can be configured to utilize either licensed 4.9 GHz, or unlicensed 2.4 GHz frequencies. Motorola offers a wireless modem card for 2.4 GHz and 4.9 GHz frequencies, which is inserted directly into Sony's IPELA® camera to create a mesh camera node. The camera comes preloaded with drivers for both frequencies and will automatically join the network when turned on. Built-in 802.11 b/g provides Wi-Fi connectivity to the 4300 series of the MWAN portfolio.
  • Cost-Effective, scalable and easy to deploy - Within each node, the routing and access functions are managed by an internal wireless modem card, eliminating the need for externally connected network devices. This can significantly reduce costs compared to conventional wireless video systems. Mesh camera nodes provide a for easy way to add high quality video applications to existing Motorola mesh networks.
